Thanks for mentioning IslamCrunch and for highlighting the interview. Just to clarify: IslamCrunch is not just Arab-centric but more Islam-centric. And congrats on the TV interview, keep up the great work and may your success be a means of benefit.

Exactly Habib,

The resolve is here, and the creativity is here. All what we are missing
is the financial muscle and support to implement our visions
and spread them everywhere.

Arabic startups are one the right tracks, lets hope financial institute will take notice ;)

I will bookmark this post and get back to it soon to comment that your predictions were right on !

I agree with you, we are seeing more and more cool innovations from and to the Arabic web. The US market is getting saturated and eyes are now turning to new emerging markets. It's our chance to seize the opportunity ... and hope to see more collaborations and events to accelerate the innovation ...

My main concern is that we still don't have enough early stage investors to help entrepreneurs take their ideas off the ground ... the Silicon Valley is well equipped in that perspective due to entrepreneurs turned into prolific angels after a series of successful startups, acquisitions, IPOs. I guess we have to start somewhere before getting to that stage and hope to start hearing successful dealflow stories in the Arab world ...

All in all, I believe we are off to a very good start !!!

Cool post and thanks for putting us in your list :) ... It's amazing to see the innovation in the Arab world quickly ramp up ... I also agree with Tariq that having an "open strategy" is a win-win to all of us.

I would also personally add Woopra.com to the list.

Hi - I'm writing about online Arab startups for a Lebanese-based website and would love to feature Twffaha but can't seem to find any contact information for you guys - if you could email me - I have some questions and would need to get a glimpse at the site in order to write the review.

Thanks

I agree za3tar. I feel we finally are heading in the right direction, and the absence of local competitors means the market is not saturated which allows for huge growth for Arabic start-ups. Google is not the first we saw interest from Microsoft and now Nokia developing for the region, but yes Google is definitely important.
